X-Kart Take Podiums Across Two Events at Hooton Park and Pista Winner

X-Kart drivers were in action across two separate events this weekend, with Zac Cain and Lucas Steele heading to Hooton Park for Round 5 of the IndiKart Championship while Riley Bishop and Lewis Sumner made the trip to Italy for Round 2 of the TBKart R-EVO Championship at Pista Winner. Both events delivered podium results, with the team producing some of their strongest individual performances of the season so far.

Hooton Park IndiKart Championship Round 5

Zac Cain

Zac Cain came into the Hooton Park weekend with confidence after strong recent form, and Saturday practice underlined the pace the new chassis setup had given him. Sunday’s racing was not straightforward, with contact in Heat 1 dropping him from pole to P4 before he recovered well to finish the session in that position. Heat 2 brought a P3 and fastest lap, and by the time the final came around, Zac had found his rhythm. Starting P3, he worked through the field, capitalised on a mistake from the leaders ahead, and drove to the win, adding fastest lap in the process.

It was a measured and composed performance across a difficult day, and one that demonstrated the racecraft that has been developing across the season.

Lucas Steele

Lucas Steele produced a consistent and confident performance across the Hooton Park weekend. Qualifying P8, he collected a Heat 1 podium and fastest lap before backing that up with P4 in Heat 2. The final brought the standout result of his weekend, finishing P2 to complete an X-Kart 1-2 in Senior Rotax.

Lucas reflected on a very positive weekend, noting the pace and racecraft shown across every session. Lucas achieved his first-ever podium finish a result he will look to build on heading into the next rounds.

TBKart R-EVO Championship Round 2, Pista Winner

Riley Bishop

Riley Bishop travelled to Pista Winner in Italy for Round 2 of the R-EVO Championship, using Saturday’s practice sessions to work through the setup and understand the circuit. By session three the kart was where it needed to be, and Sunday’s racing reflected that.

Qualifying P3, Riley finished P2 in Race 1 after a clean run at the front of the field. Race 2 was more eventful, with Riley working his way into the lead and holding position before a late incident forced him to take avoiding action, dropping him back to P5. He fought back to P3 on the road before a nose cone penalty dropped him to P6 in the final classification.

The speed and racecraft to fight for race wins is clearly there. With Round 3 at Franciacorta next month, there is plenty to aim for in the championship.

Lewis Sumner

Lewis Sumner had a strong and composed weekend at Pista Winner, handling the intense heat and demanding conditions to deliver two solid race results. Starting P5 in Race 1, he worked through to finish P3, before improving further in Race 2 with a P2 finish from P6 on the grid. The combined results were enough to take first in the Senior Rotax Light class and move him into second overall in the R-EVO Championship standings.

With two podiums from two races, Lewis leaves Italy in a strong position heading into the remainder of the season.
