XKART Race Report: Grit, Determination & Victory at the Race of Hearts, Shenington
The Race of Hearts at Shenington delivered a thrilling weekend of racing, with XKART drivers taking on the competition in challenging conditions. From commanding victories to impressive comebacks, the team showed their determination, skill, and race-winning potential.
A key factor in the team’s strong performances was the TB KART UK chassis, offering precision handling, stability in mixed conditions, and a race-proven pedigree. The chassis provided the confidence our drivers needed to fight through the pack and maintain pace at the front.
Lewis Sumner Storms to Victory
Starting from P6, Lewis Sumner wasted no time making an impact. He worked his way into the lead early and controlled the pace from the front. Despite pressure from behind, he held firm to secure a dominant P1 finish, proving his ability to manage the race under intense competition. A stellar drive from start to finish!

Cooper Campbell-Lees: A Determined Comeback
Cooper Campbell-Lees faced a challenging weekend after nose penalties in both heats pushed him down to P27. But true to his fighting spirit, he stormed through the field, climbing from P28 to P8 in Heat 2 before another penalty knocked him back again. Despite the setbacks, he still finished as the 2nd novice, showcasing his raw pace and racecraft.
Elijah Hazelwood: Fighting Back from the Rear
Elijah Hazelwood started in P16, but his race took a tough turn after a first-corner collision sent him to the back of the pack. He dug deep, setting competitive lap times and making bold moves to climb back up to P23. It was a true display of resilience and race-craft under pressure.
Lucas Steele: Overcoming a DNS to Make the A Final
A DNS in Heat 2 put Lucas on the back foot, but his determination saw him fight through to secure a place in the A Final, lining up P33. From there, he demonstrated his racing skill, steadily working his way forward to finish P26. A strong recovery after a difficult start to the weekend!
Jake Anders: Battling Through Setbacks
Starting P26, Jake’s race took an unfortunate turn when he was taken out early, causing damage to his kart. Refusing to give up, he got back on track and fought hard to P24, before a nose penalty dropped him to P28. Despite the setbacks, his lap times remained competitive, proving he had the pace to fight at the front.
Isaac Jameson: A Rookie’s First Experience
In his first-ever race, Isaac lined up in P21, facing a steep learning curve in a competitive grid. Despite dropping to P27 after some tough battles, he pushed on, finishing P31 after a nose penalty. A great first step in his karting journey with plenty of promise for the future.
Zac Cain: Hard Battles in the Final
Starting P14, Zac was locked in wheel-to-wheel battles and collisions throughout the final. The intense midfield fights saw him drop to P29, and with further penalties, he finished P32. Despite the result, his aggressive and confident racing showed his ability to mix it with the best.
A Weekend of Learning, Fighting & Winning for XKART
The Race of Hearts at Shenington was a weekend of highs, lows, and everything in between for XKART. From Lewis Sumner’s victory to the determination shown by Cooper Campbell-Lees and Elijah Hazelwood, the team left it all on the track.
With each race, our drivers continue to develop, learn, and push for better results. The season hasn’t even started yet, and XKART are gearing up for what’s to come!
