X-Kart Take Double R-EVO Win in Italy as Jameson Shows Senior Pace at Shenington

X-Kart drivers were in action across two events last weekend, with Riley Bishop heading to Italy for Round 5 of the TBKart R-EVO Championship at Pista Azzurra and Isaac Jameson competing at Shenington Kart Club for Round 9. The weekend produced a double race win internationally and further encouraging signs of Isaac’s developing Senior Rotax pace on home soil.

Riley Bishop

Riley Bishop arrived at Pista Azzurra at a disadvantage. Most of the field had tested the circuit the day before, while Riley arrived without that prior running. Saturday was spent building pace and understanding the track, and by the end of the day the laptime was coming and the pace was competitive. It laid the groundwork for what followed on Sunday.

The race day was fully wet, making the new circuit even more of an unknown. Qualifying produced P2 despite the conditions and the lack of prior wet running at the venue, a result that reflected how quickly Riley had adapted across the two days. Race 1 saw him take the lead and manage it cleanly to the flag, crossing the line P1 both in group and overall.

Race 2 brought the reversed grid format, placing him P8 on the start. Within three corners he was into the lead and from there the race was under complete control. A 20-second gap to third and a 2-second margin over second at the flag. Two wins from two races at a brand new circuit in wet conditions, and a solid haul of championship points to go with them.

Isaac Jameson

Isaac Jameson returned to Shenington for Round 9 of the Shenington Kart Club, with the random grid format placing him P8 and P15 across the two heats. Heat 1 was a strong drive, working from P8 to P2 with fastest lap before a non-compliance in scrutineering resulted in a DSQ. Heat 2 saw him climb from P15 to P5 before a mechanical issue following contact from a kart behind ended the session early.

The heat results placed him P31 on the final grid. He worked his way through to P13 before an incident between two other karts pushed him off track and dropped him to P24 in the final classification. The pace to run inside the top ten was there throughout, and with cleaner circumstances the result would have been significantly different. The Senior Rotax development is heading in the right direction.
