X-Kart Keep Busy Across Three Events at Le Mans, Franciacorta, and Hooton Park

X-Kart drivers were spread across three separate events in 3 different countries this weekend, with representatives at the RMC International Trophy at Le Mans, Round 3 of the TBKart R-EVO Championship at Franciacorta in Italy, and Round 6 of the IndiKart Championship at Hooton Park. Across all three events, the team produced some of the strongest individual results of the season, with race wins and podiums on both sides of the Channel.

RMC International Trophy, Le Mans

X-Kart were represented at Le Mans for the RMC International Trophy, one of the most prestigious international karting events on the calendar. Lewis Sumner and Isaac Jameson both made the trip to the French circuit, stepping into a field of 120 drivers and a format that is unlike anything on the British domestic calendar. Both drivers were supported throughout the week by Aurum Race Engines, with the combination of a new track, a new racing format, and in Isaac’s case a step up to Senior for the first time, making it one of the most demanding challenges of the season.

Lewis Sumner

Lewis Sumner qualified P14 in his group and P53 overall, with pace that pointed to a stronger result than the week ultimately delivered. A difficult run through the heats, which included two DNFs, dropped him to P65 in the intermediate classification and left him facing a tough task for the superheats. What followed was the highlight of his week. Starting P33 in Super Heat A, Lewis gained 23 places to finish P10, showing the kind of front-running pace that had been evident throughout the event but had been undermined by misfortune in the heats. Lewis reflected that the pace was matching the leaders all week and that the DNFs were the defining factor in how the overall result looked.

Isaac Jameson

Isaac Jameson’s trip to Le Mans was his first international race, made all the more demanding by the age rules in Europe requiring him to step up to Senior for the first time. Arriving in time for a late evening session on Monday after travel disruptions caused by France’s heat restrictions on track activity, he had limited time to learn a circuit he had only visited once before.

Despite that, Isaac showed consistent improvement across the week. Qualifying P26 in a quick group with a time of 54.189, he noted that the same lap would have placed him higher in any of the other three qualifying sessions, reflecting the quality of the group he was drawn into. He progressed through the heats, improving from P23 in his opening heat to P19 by his final one, before finishing P96 in the intermediate classification. A tough first international experience, but one that will have accelerated his development considerably.

TBKart R-EVO Championship Round 3, Franciacorta

Round 3 of the TBKart R-EVO Championship took place at Franciacorta in Italy, and X-Kart delivered their strongest R-EVO weekend of the season. Riley Bishop and Lewis Sumner both represented the team in the Senior Rotax Light class, and between them produced a dominant pair of race results.

Riley Bishop used Saturday to learn the circuit and dial in the setup, and by the time the team had found their footing, the pace was immediately apparent. Sunday practice confirmed it, with Riley quickest on track, and qualifying followed suit with pole position in his own air. Race 1 was straightforward from there. Starting from pole, he led from the first lap to the last and took the win without being seriously threatened. Race 2 brought a different challenge, with the top eight reversed on the grid for the second race, leaving Riley starting from eighth. He worked his way methodically through the field and took his second win of the weekend, a result that demonstrated the pace and racecraft to win from wherever he starts on the grid. Two wins from two races at Franciacorta is Riley’s strongest R-EVO weekend yet and puts him in a commanding position in the championship heading into the final rounds.

Lewis Sumner

Lewis Sumner arrived at Franciacorta having never raced there before, but qualified P5 to immediately show he was on the pace. Race 1 brought a strong start that moved him into P3, a position he held to the flag while still finding time through learning the circuit across the race distance. Race 2 brought the reversed grid, starting P6 after his Race 1 result. He climbed to P4 before being forced off the track onto the dirty surface, losing time and positions he was unable to fully recover. He finished P10 overall but took fastest lap in the class, a detail that reflected the pace he had shown throughout. A solid points haul despite the Race 2 incident, and Lewis leaves Franciacorta well placed in the championship standings.

Hooton Park IndiKart Championship Round 6

Hooton Park hosted Round 6 of the IndiKart Championship, and X-Kart produced their best result of the series so far. Zac Cain, Lucas Steele, and Lewis Holt all competed in Senior Rotax, with Cain delivering one of the most complete performances of his season.

Zac Cain arrived at Hooton Park in strong form and made an immediate impression in Saturday testing, setting the fastest time on track throughout the day. The kart was working exactly as needed from the outset, and Cain carried that confidence directly into Sunday’s competitive sessions.

Qualifying produced pole position, and he backed that up with wins in Heat 1 and Heat 2, taking fastest lap in the opening heat. The final was no different. Cain led from the front, controlled the race throughout, and crossed the line first with another fastest lap to his name. A clean sweep across every session of the day and comfortably the standout individual result of the weekend.

Lucas Steele finished P11 in the Senior Rotax final and Lewis Holt P13, both contributing to a strong team showing at Hooton Park across the round.

Looking Ahead

Three events, three countries, and race wins at two of them. Weekends like this reflect the breadth of what X-Kart drivers are competing in and the level they are competing at. With the domestic season heading into its closing rounds and the R-EVO championship still very much alive, there is plenty still to race for across the remainder of 2026.
