X-Kart Secure Podiums Across Two Classes at TKC Round 5 Shenington

X-Kart headed to Shenington for Round 5 of The Kart Championship, with the historic Oxfordshire airfield circuit providing one of the fastest and most demanding tests of the season. Across Junior Primo, Junior Rotax, and Senior Rotax, the squad produced some of their most complete performances of the campaign, with podium finishes in two separate classes and strong pace shown throughout the field.

Junior Primo

Jude Puddefoot

Jude Puddefoot arrived at Shenington in strong form and backed it up immediately, qualifying P2 and finishing P2 in Heat 1. Heat 2 brought a setback when contact on the opening lap sent him to the back of the field, requiring a recovery drive to P17. Sunday presented further difficulties when engine issues disrupted Super Heat 1, but the team worked quickly to resolve the problem in time for the remaining races. Puddefoot responded with P5 in Super Heat 2 before converting that form into a P3 finish in the final, adding another podium to his championship tally. A weekend that required resilience as much as pace, and Jude delivered both when it mattered.

Nelson Taylor

Nelson Taylor made his TKC debut at Shenington and set a target of a top-five finish in the final. Qualifying P17 made that task harder than anticipated, but what followed was an encouraging recovery across both days. Nelson set fastest lap in two separate heats and worked his way through to P9 in Super Heat 1 and P10 in Super Heat 2, before finishing P8 on the road in the final before a five-second penalty dropped him to P11 in the official classification. The pace and the overtaking were both there throughout the weekend. With one round remaining at Whilton Mill, the foundations are in place.

Junior Rotax

Isaac Jameson

Isaac Jameson had the pace to challenge at the front all weekend at Shenington, but a series of incidents prevented the results from reflecting it. Qualifying P12, a DNF in Heat 1 after contact at Turn 2 set the tone for a difficult Saturday. Heat 2 brought progress to P11, and Super Heat 2 showed further improvement to P12 before the final brought the most frustrating outcome. Jameson progressed from P21 to P10 before being pushed wide and then misjudging his braking in a train of karts, making contact with the driver ahead and ending his race early with a DNF. The pace was there throughout. Converting it into clean results is the focus heading into the final round.

Zak Jennings

Zak Jennings showed top-five pace in Friday practice at Shenington, giving the team genuine confidence heading into the competitive sessions. Qualifying was compromised by traffic, leaving him starting further back than his pace warranted, and from there the weekend became a series of recovery drives interrupted by incidents including a broken exhaust, a dropped nose penalty, and steering damage from contact. Despite all of that, Zak finished P3 in the repechage before taking P21 in the final from P33 on the grid, showing the racecraft that had been evident all week. With one round remaining at Whilton Mill, the speed is there to deliver the result the season has been building towards.

Senior Rotax

Lewis Sumner

Lewis Sumner produced one of his most complete weekends of the TKC season at Shenington, building through each session to deliver a P2 finish in the final. Qualifying P5, he progressed to P4 in Heat 1 and P3 in Heat 2, before Super Heat 1 showed the clearest sign of what was coming with a P2 finish. A P4 in Super Heat 2 put him well placed for the final, where he ran close to the race leader throughout and crossed the line P2 in a result that keeps him firmly in the championship picture. A significant thank you was extended to the X-Kart team, mechanic Billy, and Aurum for their support across the weekend.

Riley Bishop

Riley Bishop was on the pace from the moment practice began at Shenington, qualifying P3 with the same lap time as second place. Heat 1 brought a P2 from P3 on the grid, and Heat 2 a P4. Super Heat 1 was the standout session of his weekend, climbing from P3 to take the win, before P3 in Super Heat 2 set him up for a strong final run. He finished P3 in the final with the pace to push for the win throughout, completing an X-Kart 2-3 in Senior Rotax alongside Lewis Sumner.

Lewis Holt

Lewis Holt had a difficult start to the Shenington weekend, struggling with the kart in the hot conditions through Saturday and into the early sessions on Sunday. The setup gradually came together across the day, and a P14 in Super Heat 2 showed the improvement before he brought home a P10 finish in the final, a solid result given the conditions he had been working through all weekend.

Zac Cain

Zac Cain showed encouraging pace throughout the Shenington weekend, qualifying P13 before improving to P8 in Heat 1 and working consistently through the superheats to post a P5 in Super Heat 2. The final brought a promising start as Zac climbed to P5 before a rear-end collision caused exhaust damage and forced him to retire, leaving P18 in the classification as the result despite the pace he had shown all weekend.
