X-Kart Continue Strong Momentum at SuperOne Rounds 3 & 4 at GYG

X-Kart headed to GYG Karting for Rounds 3 and 4 of the SuperOne Championship, with drivers across multiple categories continuing to make progress during another competitive national weekend. Across changing conditions and one of the most physically demanding circuits in UK karting, the team secured podium finishes, strong recoveries, and valuable championship points.

Junior Max

Elijah Hartley

Elijah Hartley continued the positive form built at Rowrah earlier in the season. Traffic affected qualifying on both days left Elijah starting further back than the pace deserved, but consistent forward progress across every race highlighted the speed within the package. After climbing from P12 to P6 in Saturday’s Final, Elijah capped off the weekend with a podium finish on Sunday, taking P3 in the Final after another series of strong drives.

Elijah explained that the weekend was all about building on the strong weekend at Rowrah and continuing to improve. Working closely with the coaches, team manager, and mechanic allowed small driving changes to make a big difference throughout the weekend.

Zak Jennings

Zak Jennings delivered a highly competitive weekend in Junior Max. Two P6 finishes in Saturday’s heats demonstrated strong pace, although the Final did not fully reflect the speed shown earlier in the day. Sunday brought one of the standout drives of the weekend, with Zak charging from P14 to P4 in the Final.

Zak said the biggest positive from the weekend was the race pace and overtaking under pressure, especially during Sunday’s Final where he made significant progress through the field.

Nelson Taylor

Nelson Taylor continued his strong start with X-Kart during his first visit to GYG. Saturday saw him gain six places in the Final to finish P12, while setting a fastest lap just 0.009 away from the quickest overall time.

Sunday brought even stronger pace despite a compromised qualifying session leaving him P11. Across both heats, Nelson recorded the second fastest laps on track before securing P8 in the Final, showing clear front running potential heading into the next rounds.

Senior Max

Lewis Holt

Lewis Holt faced a difficult opening day as changing conditions and incidents limited progress. After being forced down the order following contact in Saturday’s second heat, Lewis recovered positions in the Final before making major improvements on Sunday. Stronger pace and improved confidence around the circuit allowed him to battle closer to the front, ending Round 4 with P8 in the Final.

Lewis described the weekend as tough but positive, explaining that Sunday brought a much better feeling with the kart setup and overall confidence around the circuit.

Lucas Steele

Lucas Steele continued his steady progression throughout the season, adapting well to the demands of GYG while improving session by session. Despite setbacks and setup changes across the weekend, Lucas secured consistent gains and a best finish of P12 during Sunday’s Final.

Lucas explained that the weekend showed constant progress around one of the UK’s most physically demanding tracks, continuing his development from earlier rounds.

Inter Max

Evan Dearden

Evan Dearden continued learning during only his second event with the team. Unfortunate incidents made the weekend challenging at times, but Evan responded strongly with an impressive recovery drive from P14 to P6 in Sunday’s Final.

Evan explained that the weekend provided a huge amount of learning and experience, with plenty to build on heading into the next rounds of the championship.

Micro Max

James Hudson

James Hudson impressed throughout his first visit to GYG. After struggling slightly for pace earlier in Saturday, everything came together in the Final, crossing the line P6 before post race penalties promoted him onto the podium in P3. Another strong drive on Sunday secured P6 once again, leaving the weekend sitting P4 in the championship standings.

James said the biggest lesson from the weekend was learning to trust himself and his abilities on track, especially around a circuit he had never previously raced at.

Additional Team Results

Elsewhere, Jude Puddefoot secured a podium finish in Junior Rotax with P3 in Round 3 before taking P6 in Round 4. Isaac Jameson finished P4 in Round 3 before suffering a DNF on Sunday, while Harry Ward secured P18 and P9 finishes across the weekend. In Senior Max, Archie Doherty completed Round 3 in P27 before retiring from the Round 4 final.
