XKART SuperOne GYG Race Report – Rounds 3 & 4

Double victories, rookie gains, and a tough test at Glan-Y-Gors

The team headed to the iconic Glan-Y-Gors circuit in North Wales for Rounds 3 and 4 of the SuperOne Series.

The Superone Series

The SuperOne Series is one of the most prestigious and historic karting championships in the UK, known for developing some of the country’s top racing talent. Since its inception in 1983, it has been the proving ground for future stars, with alumni including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, George Russell, and Lando Norris. Competing in SuperOne means racing against the very best in the country, week in and week out. It’s where raw talent is refined, racecraft is sharpened, and true champions are made. For young drivers like those in the XKART line-up, performing at this level is a key step in the pathway to professional motorsport.

About Glan-Y-Gors (GYG)

Glan-Y-Gors, commonly known as GYG, is one of the most scenic and technically demanding kart circuits in the UK. Located in North Wales, it features fast-flowing sections, dramatic elevation changes, and a mix of tight corners and sweeping bends that challenge even the most experienced drivers. Its unique layout tests every aspect of kart control, from precision braking to maintaining momentum through high-speed sections. GYG is a favourite among many national championship organisers and drivers alike, not only for its stunning location but also for the quality of racing it consistently delivers. Racing well at GYG requires skill, focus, and confidence, making it an ideal venue for rounds of the SuperOne Series.

Riley Bishop dominates Junior Rotax

In true championship form, Riley Bishop delivered back-to-back wins in Junior Rotax. He managed both races from the front, defending intelligently when needed and controlling the pace throughout. His focus, timing, and consistency were second to none, a standout weekend in an already impressive season.

Midfield battles and determined drives

Leon Barlow had a weekend full of setbacks, including two damaged radiators and unexplained power loss, but still pushed through to secure P11 in Round 4. His determination in the face of tough luck was a credit to his mindset.

Lucas Steele showed his best driving to date on Sunday. He took on coaching, applied it quickly, and improved with every session. From P19 in Round 3 to P25 in Round 4, the positions don’t tell the whole story, the growth was clear.

Isaac Jameson progressed well across both days, moving from P26 to P18 between the two finals. His focus on line and race style is starting to show on track. Smoother inputs and more consistency will help unlock even more from his potential.

Lewis Holt picked up P11 in Round 3, overcoming a compromised qualifying. He dropped to P19 in Round 4 but showed raw speed. Once he finds greater consistency across race sessions, his results will follow.

Southall and Hartley continue to develop

Cassidy Southall impressed again with a strong P12 in Round 3 and remained one of the hardest-working drivers off track. Despite a tough Round 4, where qualifying hurt his grid spot, he stayed committed and positive. His approach continues to stand out among the rookies.

Elijah Hartley took away valuable race mileage from GYG. He finished both rounds inside the top 30 and gained experience in pack racing. With more focus on data and learning, he’ll continue to close the gap.

Pugh pushes through in Senior Rotax

In Senior Rotax, Molly Pugh impressed with some of her best racing to date, finishing P15 in Round 3. Round 4 proved more difficult as her day was plagued by engine problems, but she still secured P21. Molly remained committed and brought the kart home in both finals.

From back-to-back wins to real signs of development across the full grid, GYG was a weekend of progress for the XKART team. With drivers committed to learning and pushing themselves each session, the future continues to look bright.

Taking the leap for something bigger

On June 7th, XKART Senior Rotax driver Molly Pugh and team coach Louis Harvey will swap racing suits for parachutes, taking part in a skydive to raise funds and awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity.

For Molly, this cause is deeply personal. In 2012, her dad underwent surgery and radiotherapy for a brain tumour. Although the treatment saved his life, it left lasting effects, including dementia. Their family was one of the lucky ones, and now Molly’s using her platform in motorsport to give back and push for change.

Brain tumours remain the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK. The Brain Tumour Charity funds essential research and provides vital support for families affected by this disease.

Louis and Molly’s skydive is more than a bucket-list challenge, it’s a powerful statement of solidarity, strength, and purpose from two members of the paddock. Every donation helps fuel the mission to improve survival rates and quality of life for those facing this diagnosis.
